Hamilton driver of the day, no question. Verstappen will get them in Imola. Perez looked good.
Goodness, the state of F1 is one that people claim that, a driver that spent half the race off the track, to be the best of the GP :?
Dry the tears. Hamilton did everything he could until told otherwise. That is why his is the most successful driver of all time and that is why he just beat Redbull in a race they should have won easily.

Max saying he'd rather illegally pass off track and try to pull out 5 seconds. Not cool.
Hopefully the stewards keep that in mind for the future, that's a very dirty racing mindset.
Hopefully the stewards will just reverse the positions if anyone tries that in future.

That was an incredible finish, didn't expect it to be so close at all.

Thought Max would easily make up the gap and then breeze past him with drs.

Mercedes must be laughing to come away with a win and P3 after seeing the gap to Red Bull this weekend.

Good opening race.

2nd seat should’ve played a more influential role. PER out from quali, BOT undone by a poor pit stop.

The rules were at fault, you saw one replay and one radio from HAM. If we were to get replays from every driver it would look even murkier.

I agree it’s wrong, but even Brundle states they would be handing out warnings/flag/time penalty. They didn’t

So, hamilton spends half the race outside of track limits and all is fine. Max does it once, and penalized.

Bollocks
You seem to be confused. Hamilton didn’t pass outside the track. Oh and BTW Verstappen started doing it as well when it became apparent that they were letting it slide so your comment of ‘Max does it once’ is completely flawed anyway.
Hamilton was consistently wide at T4. That is just as much gaining an advantage. The stewards dont seem to get that still - gaining an advantage is not something that only happens during overtakes.

Of course max started doing it when it was obvious stewards were not acting, but that situation should not have occurred in the first place.
So you admit your comment of ‘Max does it once’ was wrong then?

Both were abusing T4 yet only 1 of them passed off the track. That was Verstappen.

I hope that's set the tone for the season! Familiar outcome, but the route to it was far more exciting. Mercedes have a lot of work to do, Red Bull have an edge.

Good job there is that little T4 controversy to argue about otherwise people would have nothing to moan about today. A classic race and a perfect example of why F1 racing isn't all about a hundred overtakes every lap. It's about the chase and the strategy and the "will he, won't he?".

Let's have some more of those, eh?
All season long hopefully.

Well that was fun to watch. Hopefully what comes from this is that the rules are enforced going forward. But based on FIA history I doubt it. I’ve always maintained the race track is between the white lines, enforcement of such as written in current rules, would leave no ambiguity. And get rid of the 3 strikes, I’m sure they will figure it out quickly (and amazingly) after the first penalty.

That was a great, great race. May this battle continue all year. Lewis certainly pulled that one out of the bag. The cars are very, very close. Max blew it and so did RBR. The Bottas option really played on RBR and made them doubt.
I think Bottas is going to have his best year.

This will be the FIRST battle between two teams for championship since.... 2008!!

Let’s all be happy
You forgot 2017 and 2018.
Ferrari blew it after mid season. But yes. It feels like 2008
With a week driver like VET Ferrari was not in the battle then

The Merc chaps won't exactly have to do much to match what the RBR boys did in 2020. MV33 only won two races and finished well over 120 points behind hamilton. In no way did he overcome any car deficit, and Albon simply underdelivered. MV tried his best and had a good showing, but at no point did he ever trouble the eventual WDC. He even lost out to the clear #2 in Bottas.

Just for reference. :D
That's true!

Great driver stuff from Hamilton in this race.
