Macca is hellafast down the straights and they are a great team with fantastic strategists — way better than the strategy buffoons at Merc who only seem capable of getting it right about every third decision. Ricciardo and Norris have better race technique than Hamilton because they haven’t had a 1.5-2 second a lap faster car most of their career, so they have not atrophied in skill, race approach, and attitude. Macca will do just fine tomorrow. I expect both drivers to be on the podium with Max leading the way.
Well said & it is the truth. I am also expecting a Mclaren double podium ! Norris is a future star & people underestimate Ricciardo. This is the guy that beat Vettel, Verstappen, Ocon, Hulkenberg fair n square over a single season. And he still has 2-3 good years !
I think he will be competitive till about 37-38. He seems to be getting better with age. At RBR his weakness were his starts. Now he's one of the strongest starters on the grid (guess the time at Renault helped). His race craft was already up there with the best of the best and had excellent race pace and excellent quali pace. When dan is on form and the equipment suits him he is right up there with the best. As you said he beat Max twice of 3 years (would have again but his car fked him over with 8 dnfs and 6 back of the grid starts in 2018), He dismantled Vettel and Hulkenberg...and of course we saw what he did to Ocon.
Norris will continue to grow and get better. Definitely next year we have one of the strongest lineups. Perhaps behind Hamilton and George only.
RBR's weak link is Perez. Ive never rated him at all. He got shown up by Ocon who smashed him 16-5 in quali and only got outscored by him due to the lottery of the midfield. He is consistently over half a second behind max on every occasion in qualifying. Extremely over-rated for his already slightly above average reputation IMO.
