Sauber proud of 'his' team

Peter Sauber is very happy with the performances of the two BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, and is looking forward to an exciting end to the season, as the Formula One circus heads overseas.

"We were among those who did not record fast laps at the right time during qualifying. For this reason, Robert started from back in eleventh position on the grid, with Nick just ahead of him in tenth," says Sauber. "To get this kind of result from these relatively poor positions is thanks to the drivers' performances, but also the performance of the team. The correct strategy was selected, which was no mean feat, and the drivers implemented it perfectly."

"There are still four races to go," says the former head of the team, who will be trackside at three of the season's remaining races. "I am looking forward to a very, very exciting end to the season. Let's not forget that Robert is in third place. He is still in touch with the leaders," says the Swiss.

After the Italian Grand Prix, Robert has 64 points to his name, putting him 14 points behind leader Lewis Hamilton (McLaren). With Nick's 53 World Championship points, the BMW Sauber F1 Team now has 117 points after 14 races. This guarantees the team from Munich and Hinwil at least third place in the Constructors' World Championship.
