Renault deny disagreement with FOTA
Renault have strongly denied breaking ranks with FOTA. Press rumours originating from Renault's interest into the standard engine idea suggested that the team was not completely in line with FOTA and had different views on its own and Formula One's future.
A brief statement by the team itself however strictly denies any such claims.
"Following speculation that appeared this morning in the Italian press, the ING Renault F1 Team would like to state that the positions of the Team and Renault are in complete accordance to those of the FOTA. We would like to point out that neither Mr. Briatore nor Renault have spoken to the press regarding this matter before this official press release."
FOTA representatives are meeting today with the FIA to analyse the proposals from the teams and to see whether the standard engine deal can go ahead. At least 4 teams will have to opt in, and Renault is believed to be amongst the interested teams, together with both Red Bull sponsored teams, Force India F1 and Williams.
