Only Heidfeld will race with KERS in Melbourne
The BMW Sauber F1 team will only run KERS in the car of Nick Heidfeld at the upcoming Australian GP, leaving Robert Kubica with no extra boost for at least this race. Team Principal Mario Theissen reasons that with Heidfeld's lower weight there is less of a weight penalty due to the relatively heavy KERS unit.
"Due to the new rules, the heavier drivers have a disadvantage. Even though we managed to build a reasonably light KERS device we are still not able to get the perfect balance in Robert's car," Theissen shared with our colleagues over at 'GPUpdate'.
"He won't use it Melbourne although we hope we are able to fit it to his car later this season."
