Van der Merwe new driver of medical car
Last weekend at Melbourne, Alan van der Merwe, a 29-year-old South-African, made his debut as driver of the official Formula One medical car and will remain in this role for the entire 2009 season. The former BAR Honda test driver, who also raced in F3000 and A1GP, took over from Alex Wurz and Sebastian Buemi who filled in for Dr. Tropenat last year.
