The Honda Racing F1 Team began a three-day test at the Silverstone circuit in Northamptonshire this morning. The weather was cold and cloudy with ambient temperatures reaching a maximum of 10˚c and track temperatures a maximum of 12˚c in the morning session.

Jenson Button and Anthony Davidson began the test today driving in chassis RA106-02 and RA106-05 respectively. Anthony completed an early short aerodynamic evaluation, before a heavy downpour combined with the cold conditions interrupted the team’s running for two hours.

Both drivers were able to go out and complete a short wet tyre programme after 11.30am once the circuit had warmed up sufficiently. Jenson completed 21 laps, with Anthony completing 26 laps.

Jenson successfully ran through his afternoon programme of chassis set-up work on a continually improving track, completing a further 38 laps in the session, bringing to 59 laps his total for the day, and setting the second fastest time of the day – a 01:21.131.

Anthony also worked through a chassis set-up programme, running for a further 39 laps in the afternoon session to complete a total of 65 laps today.

Rubens Barrichello will take over from Anthony in chassis RA106-05 tomorrow.
