Target now to close gap on pacesetters
After posting two points scoring finishes in Spain, the Honda Racing F1 Team is now looking to unlock further performance so Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello can start challenging for podium finishes.
"We scored some more points at Barcelona, this time with both cars, which is very positive,” reports Gil de Ferran, Sporting Director. “While we are not as fast as we would like to be, we had a good battle with Raikkonen right through to the end and made the most of what we had. The race went relatively smoothly without any major dramas and both drivers pushed extremely hard. As well as the next race in Monaco potentially suiting our cars better, we go to Vallelunga this week to evaluate some improvements. Our focus now is firmly on closing the gap on those ahead of us."
"Both drivers gave it everything they had in Spain and the result is an accurate reflection of our level at the moment,” concurred Shuhei Nakamoto, Engineering Director at Honda Racing Development. “Every member of the team knows we need to keep pushing hard to close the gap to the front runners."
