Honda centre stage as Canadian GP kicks off
The Honda Racing F1 Team took centre stage as the famous festivities surrounding the Canadian Grand Prix got underway on Thursday. Honda Canada is once again a major sponsor of the ninth annual Crescent Street festival in downtown Montreal, an exceptional celebration designed to replicate the excitement and sensory appeal of Formula One racing.
As part of the opening ceremony on Thursday, Honda Racing F1 Team drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello starred on the main stage in a special question and answer session.
Rubens and Jenson were not the only Honda VIPs in Montreal, however; ASIMO, the world’s most advanced humanoid robot, is also present at this year’s Grand Prix event. Throughout the weekend, ASIMO will help give presentations on Honda’s ‘green, safe, fun’ initiatives at Honda World, a spectacular exhibition at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
Following the Crescent Street appearance at lunchtime, the busy Honda Racing F1 Team drivers joined ASIMO in Honda World for a special presentation to international F1 and Canadian media on Thursday evening.
Commenting on Honda Canada’s continued commitment to the Canadian Grand Prix celebrations, Miller said: “We are involved in the Grand Prix du Canada because of our heritage in motor sports and in support of the Honda Racing F1 Team. As our founder Soichiro Honda said, ‘Without racing there is no Honda.’ Throughout a half-century of racing, Honda has turned inspiration into innovation and dreams into reality. The Grand Prix du Canada provides an excellent backdrop to showcase Honda’s innovations in the arena of mobility, including our competition in F1 racing.”
