Hamilton fastest during first day of testing at Francorchamps
During the first day on the renewed Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps in the Belgian Ardennes, Lewis Hamilton clocked the fastest time. The McLaren Mercedes driver was followed by BMW's Robert Kubica and Ferrari's Felipe Massa.
Formula One returned to the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps under a sunny sky. The session was stopped four times by a red flag. This morning, the session was stopped for the first time as Vitatonio Liuzzi went off at Blanchimont. Less than an hour later, a new red flag came out as Nelson Piquet Jr. has a problem with his gearbox.
In the afternoon, David Coulthard caused another red flag situation as he as well suffered gearbox problems. And the session was stopped again as Williams F1 driver, Nico Rosberg, blew up his Toyota engine.
Testing will continue tomorrow at the renewed Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps.
