Long runs for Hamilton on legendary Francorchamps
Formula 1 descended on the legendary Spa Francorchamps track today for the first time since the 2005 Belgian Grand Prix. Vodafone McLaren Mercedes began an intensive three day test session with Lewis at the wheel of the MP4-22.
The circuit has been revised for 2007 with a new final chicane, pit entry and start-finish straight. The first part of the day was spent conducting a series of aerodynamic tests to establish the effect of a range of downforce settings for the Nürburgring and Spa. The balance of the day was spent concentrating on long runs using each of the tyre choices available for the circuit. Time was made available at the end of the morning and afternoon session for teams to make practice starts from the starting grid. More rain is anticipated overnight, with conditions expected to dry out before the start of tomorrow’s session.
