Grosjean to race in GP2 next season
Frenchman Romain Grosjean, the reigning 2007 F3 Euroseries Champion will race in GP2 next season for the ART Grand Prix Team. Yesterday, Grosjean was also announced as the new ING Renault F1 Team test driver.
Nicolas Todt, team boss of ART, said: "Romain is the second driver after Lewis Hamilton who symbolizes the synergy between GP2 and the F3 Euro Series within the ART Grand Prix team. We will recreate the same conditions for Romain that we had in place for Lewis and hope to get the benefit from them.
"It was also important for ART Grand Prix to continue working with the Renault Driver Development Programme and we are thrilled that Romain cements this profitable collaboration. The choice of Romain continues ART Grand Prix's tradition of securing the best drivers in the advancing formulas of the support series and to help them succeed on the highest level."
Romain Grosjean said: “So far, this has been a really good week for me! First I was named an ING Renault F1 Team test driver, and now we can reveal that I will drive for ART next season. This means I will be racing for the same team as I did in 2007: ASM and ART form part of the same family of teams, so I will be racing with people I know well next year. I know that part of my success last season was due to the strong relationship with my team and I can’t wait to tackle a new challenge with them. I know I have the support of Renault behind me, and I believe that 2008 will be a challenging but important year for me.”
