Although Rubens Barrichello will break the 256 GP starts record of Riccardo Patrese at the Spanish Grand Prix, the Brazilian is seeking a new contract with Honda for next season. The new goal of Barrichello is to finish with more than 300 races and he wants to do this with his current team and with Ross Brawn.

Rubens Barrichello was quoted by the 'Schweriner Volkszeitung': "I would like to go on for as long as I can. It is no secret that my contract expires at the end of the year, but I want to extend it, because I think that with Ross Brawn a new and promising era has begun at Honda. 2008 is definitely not my last season; now I want to finish with more than 300 Grand Prix."
