They're not having problems meeting weight now? RBR said they were 20KG over weight the first year of current regs. You don't think if they could have made the PU lighter, they wouldn't have? Hell, most cars ran without paint!

Weight is time in F1 So everything is as light as can be. Even being under weight is an advantage. It allows you to put ballast exactly where you need it to improve handling.
Be interesting to see if they stay with split turbo. Certainly that is one way to save weight. Presume that there are still a power and packaging benefit for isolating the compressor from the turbine.peewon wrote: ↑29 Sep 2024, 13:49diffuser wrote: ↑28 Sep 2024, 16:12They're not having problems meeting weight now? And improvements happen constantly with time. So it doesn't mean it can't be lighter. There has been an engine freeze since 2022. There is always possibility of improvement.
The maximum distance between the rear of the compressor exducer and the front of
the turbine inducer (E) will be 175mm
Didn't know that.
Yes I was talking about it at 27 Sep 2024, 10:09. You can look back ...peewon wrote: ↑30 Sep 2024, 08:24https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4woJDRV-kZA
I dont know if this was posted elsewhere but a nice video that gives some insight as to why so many teams have had correlation issues and some of the complexities of wind tunnel testing which get amplified on ground effect cars.
"Two or three years", so 2025 (1) and 2026 (2) at least. Maybe 2027 (3) possibly.
I always had that feeling that if the 2026 car had potential (engine and chassis), there is no way Alonso wouldn't want to stick around for another season. Glad he confirmed it.
