Nobody would have made the slightest remark if they choosed a team like Marussia. #-o
Marussia?
Why not HRT?

They chose MB for good reasons. A car with proven potential but also experiencing tire issues.
There isn't a team that could yield more valid results.

If F1 was really about cost cutting/budget capping/bullshit dodging/etc they'd just get china to make some 50c mass produced, no warranty (only because its racing) low deg "hi per4manz" rubber and make all the fans, happy, all the time.

NEVER going to happen, there are the hardcore good ol days enthusiasts that want to see real racing and the best driver in the best car win, season after season. and there is BE, who wants money. TV ratings. So yeah, money.

In between those two polarities there are us, the fans.
We are neither black nor white, theres more grey areas than there are none.

You will never keep all the people happy, all the time.

This messageboard will argue till the end of time over what way F1 should and could have been run, as sports fan will do. But sometimes you should just sit on your couch, turn on the TV and imagine your life without it all.

FIA is trying hard to get more manufacturers into F1, and the last thing they would like to is to loose any of the current ones.

For Mercedes it's the 4 season in F1 and, so far, their achievements can be summarized as "less then expected". Merc's board faced with question if they are getting reasonable ROI from being in F1 for sure is in doubts... locking front row in Spain and than finishing 6 and 12 can not be called other than pathetic. I doubt that's the kind of "brand image" they are looking for.

So why not to "use" the rules to convince Mercedes they are not that dumb to build competitive F1 car?

Am glad cheeky vettel did show us what audience and fans have been robbed by setting the fastest lap towards the last few lap of the race. Was it 3 or 4 secs quicker on a very used tires?

2 seconds. IMO this was political lobbying rather than showboating - "hey look folks! We can actually lap 2s quicker than the race pace!"

Not sure if this goes here but...

The stewards take no decision on the mater and defer it to the FIA international tribunal.

Guess this was too large of a fish for them to handle.

Wasn't a race event. Simple as that.

2 seconds.
No. Target times during race were 1.20.xxx to 1.21.xxx most of the time. So it was about 4 seconds quicker.

For the record, it's a 'note to the media' from the FIA's head of communications
To me it sounds like Mercedes and Pirelli are about (or very close) to get a smack on the face. With a tyre.

Pirelli and Merc' will convince FIA somehow. I mean they are not little kids. They must have thought about it and will surly have some reasons IMO.

At the very least any data collected by Pirelli AND Mercedes should be made available to each team in the paddock. Mercedes clearly obtained 1000 km of testing mileage and might have run instrumentation on the car for purposes other than the Pirelli test. Also the rule regarding Pirelli choosing a team for their 1000 km testing of their own accord seems to be wrong somehow

Lets face it we are gonna have either Hankook or Michelin back next year, if not both of them in a tyre war of sorts.

Each firm doing a 4 spec compounds with the Pirelli colour coded system that we have been used to over past 3 tears.

F1 in 2014 will be tough for all with new aero regs, new engines and new tyres. I am sure glad i am gonna be seeing these cars, engines and believe it or not Tyres in Monza in September.
