Lewis Hamilton emerged victorious in the 34th Hungarian Grand Prix, winning a thrilling battle with Max Verstappen in a race where strategy decided the final outcome. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel completed the Hungaroring podium.
I love how morons like Nico Rosberg are making all these outlandish claims about Max being better than Lewis on the basis of one qualifying and one bad race that Lewis had.. I mean, FFS, Lewis has almost a hundred poles!!!
Just for the record, I'm a Verstappen fan and have zero inclination towards Hamilton, just respect. I guess that's life. Some people (Rosberg) luck into something (his WDC) and then feel inclined to judge and sway common perception on the basis of that power of achievement. For me, people like him and even worse, that moron called Jolyon Palmer are trolls and should be kept far away from broadcasting.

What worries me for Verstappen is exactly how bad his starts have been, hopefully they addressed it.
Mercedes problems are, i think they'll need to make a call on Bottas>Hamilton or be vulnerable to the Ferraris trying some creative tactics.
The best race will be if Max's software decides he needs less revs as he drops the clutch, again, won't it, but yes otherwise Valtteri will lose his tyres first so they'll do the undercut with him and it's a question how far back he is.
I don't think Mercedes will swap them unless it's really bad, and then they'll leave it until it's too late.
There a number of things apart from the start (which have been horrible so far this year) that RB/Honda have to worry about.
-a divebomb into turn 1 or 2
-even if they manage to keep P1 they have to break the DRS within 2 laps because of the abilities of the other teams on the straight
-build a sufficient gap against undercuts and overcuts. Basically the Merc drivers have already announced they are going to double team the one RB because Gasly was and is useless as always making it 2 vs 1. So they need a sizeable gap to protect against that as they dont have a second driver making the Mercs watch their own back (so full attack mode in strategy sense).
-reliability. For example the PU has done 6 races including one with high engine modes in the heat.
-unlucky sc and vsc
Nobody divebombs Max in a Red Bull!!
And the straight is too short for DRS until the tyres have come out to play.
But yes let's see, stuff can always happen can't it

I saw the video and I interpreted it as current form considering the last year, with the ‘break’ between the two coming last race. So not ‘nased on 1 race and quali’.

So is it just me, or was the season closer this year than what it seemed like? Ferrari should have won a couple of races but shot themselves in the foot (Bahrain, Canada, Austria). Meanwhile, Hamilton has won a few GPs which he probably shouldnt have (Bahrain and Canada) and so has Max (Austria and Hockenheim). This weekend, RedBull genuienly looks on pace and planted.
Still we are on the 12 race with Hamilton with a 60+ points lead to the best non Mercedes car (Verstappen).
As strong as RedBull look, i do have my doubts if they can sustain their strong form at every single race that’s up. Surely they will struggle at Spa and Monza where Mercedes abd Ferrari will have an edge. I do wonder though if Honda is running more aggressive mappings at the expense of reliability and longevity... the race in Austria comes to mind where they consolidated everything to get that home win, no matter the cost...
Not for nothing, Rosberg's Championship is the only thing that lends credibility to Hamilton's recent success. Otherwise, he'd just be the guy who's had the best car. — bhall II #Team44 supporter

Agreed, the Merc is car for all types of rack track, it can give Red Bull and Ferrari a proper fight even when the course suites them best.
Honda were always going to take another engine, they have the luxury of thrashing there's to within an inch of it's life. You don't get to do this when fighting for titles.

I believe the Joylon Palmer analysis on the official F1 account is pretty thorough and rational actually, and it seems improbable to be as worked up about it as you seem to be.

I can actually see teams going for 4th engine in the future if it gives them an advantage in all the other races. Especially with the advantage over the non-top 3. You basically lose 17 points (16 if you go for the fastest lap) and have more powerful engines the rest of the year.

The top six teams are all starting on Medium tyres. Pirelli predict that a soft-medium strategy will be faster than a medium-soft one. Could that potentially bring Mclaren into play disrupting the top six, at least briefly? I guess it's unlikely since Mclaren will have to pit first, but I wonder if they may then get in the way during the top six pitstops?

they dont have the speed to interrupt the top 5 (i exclude Gasly, because him they can get)
