JP confident about Constructors' title

Juan Pablo Montoya, the Brazilian GP winner, is confident that his McLaren can bounce back from Kimi Raikkonen's World Championship failure by claiming the Constructors' title. The fact that Fernando Alonso became the youngest World Champion in Formula One history overshadowed McLaren's first one-two for five years. McLaren has now a two-point lead in the Constructors' standings and that makes them favourite to win the title this season.

Juan Pablo Montoya "It was a lot of fun, I had a big fight with Kimi all day long. Finally we have got a one-two we deserved since the beginning of the year. At the beginning of the season we lost the Drivers' Championship to Fernando when we were struggling. As a team we are a lot stronger now and I think we deserve the Constructors' Championship to be honest. We have a stronger car than Renault so we should be able to win it. The last two races we will be very strong and we should be able to beat them."

Kimi Raikkonen "Of course it is disappointing not to be fighting any more for the Championship. We realised we needed good luck to win it. This is never nice but congratulations to Fernando. He definitely deserves it. We lost it this year, we will try to win it next year."

Raikkonen's title defeat meant most at McLaren were restrained in their celebration of a 5th successive win but Montoya bucked the trend. The Columbian regards Brazil as almost a home race and enjoyed his repeat of last year's win.
Juan Pablo Montoya "It has always been a good race for me. For me it is very special. This race is quite close to Colombia and there are a lot of Colombians who come here to watch the race, it is very exciting."

Kimi Raikkonen pushed Montoya hard once he had fought his way from 5th on the grid to 2nd. The 25-year-old Finn got close to the first place, but after his 2nd pit stop he fell short.
Kimi Raikkonen "I wasn't quick enough in the early part of the race and after the first pit stop. Montoya always had a gap and it was enough for him. I would have done more if I could. I was not quick enough to win the race. We got close. There was no point to have any more racing after the last pit stops. It was quite difficult. We got a good finish for the team so that is a good thing. We did the best that we could but we knew that winning the Championship would be difficult. It was supposed to happen one day and it happened now so congratulations to Fernando."
