Speed scared of journalists

By on

First official function of the season for Scott Speed was a trip to the Media Centre to take part in the official FIA Press Conference. Surprisingly, our American racer admitted to having a few nerves before starting his first race as a Formula 1 driver.

But it wasn't the challenge of being quick enough or of sharing the track with famous names that bothered him. "Dealing with the media is one of the hardest thing for me to get used to," said Scott Speed. "There are so many of them, but I had a chance to get used to it when I drove the third Red Bull Racing car in the North American races last year. Am I excited? You bet. I've been dreaming of this moment ever since I sat in a go-kart when I was eleven years old." There, that wasn't too bad, was it? The F1 media are just a bunch of nice old pussycats really.
