It's a fun track - JV
Jacques Villeneuve of the BMW Sauber F1 Team has fond memories of last year's San Marino Grand Prix. In 2005, he finished fourth at the 'Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari', located in the centre of the Emilia Romagna region.
"Imola has always been a good track for us as it was there where we got our best result last year," says Jacques Villeneuve, recalling last year's successful race. At the same time, the Canadian is well aware that the BMW Sauber F1 Team has to opt for a cool-headed attitude in order to be successful in the Northern Italian event. "It is the second race for the engine so we will have to be a little bit careful."
Since 14th September, 1980, Imola has been a regular part of the Formula One calendar. Jacques looks forward to returning to the classic circuit in his eleventh Formula One season. "It's a fun track," he says. "It's a very different track to the first three of the year, with a lot of chicanes and kerbing."
In the San Marino Grand - which owes the name to the tiny 60-square-kilometre state located south-east of Imola - overtaking will be rare due to the circuit's layout. "It's very difficult to overtake, here," admits Jacques, "But it is fun to drive, nevertheless."
