2 and 3 for Renault at Barcelona

This morning dawned grey and wet in Barcelona, limiting the Renault F1 Team’s work to exploratory laps in the morning, and some restricted wet weather tyre and set-up evaluation. However, the skies cleared and circuit dried by lunchtime, allowing the team to begin working on its development programme for the week. Both cars ran reliably as Giancarlo and Heikki focused on tyre selection for the upcoming race in Silverstone, while Giancarlo also completed an extensive data logging programme.

The drivers completed over 150 laps in total, and finished the day second and third on the timesheets.

Chief Test Engineer Christian Silk commented: “We had a good first day. The weather disrupted our work early on, but after that, we were able to get our teeth into the tyre development programme. The performance of the car looks good – as we knew from the race here just over two weeks ago. We got plenty of laps done in spite of the delay, and look forward to building on this tomorrow and Friday.”
