De la Rosa and Paffett kick of Barcelona test
The Formula 1 fraternity returned to Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya today for a three day test at the Spanish track. Pedro de la Rosa and Gary Paffett were in attendance today for Team McLaren Mercedes alongside 13 other drivers at the 4.627km circuit.
This morning's session was affected by rain, with the track only beginning to dry out at 12noon. As a result Pedro and Gary's work on the wet circuit focused on wet Michelin testing.
When the circuit conditions were dry, the Team McLaren Mercedes test team began their programme for the week in earnest. This saw Pedro and Gary work on a combination of front and rear suspension and aerodynamic developments.
Pedro covered over 320km of the Spanish Grand Prix circuit as he set the sixth quickest time of the day, a 1m15.828. Gary, who also put in 70 laps and 320km, had a fastest time of 1m17.480.
Team McLaren Mercedes will continue testing tomorrow with Juan Pablo joining Pedro at the Circuit de Catalunya.
