Renault stars in Helsinki exhibition
Fans of Formula 1 know it already: ING Renault F1 Team always tries to go the extra mile to get its fans close to the action. Be it on track, or behind the scenes, the team is always trying to show people things they haven’t seen before – to spark their interest in Formula 1.
It was with this in mind that the team displayed, last summer in London’s Design Museum, a special ‘cutaway’ version of the 2005 championship-winning R25. With cutaway bodywork and floor, the car gave fans the opportunity to see F1 technology up close – and appreciate the remarkable engineering expertise that goes into a top-line Formula 1 car.
The entire exhibition, entitled “F1: The Great Design Race”, has now gone on tour and its first stop is in Helsinki – so it’s home turf for the ING Renault F1 Team, in the home country of 2007 driver Heikki Kovalainen. The exhibition opens today at the Helsinki Design Museum, and will continue until April.
“I am really pleased to see the ING Renault F1 Team taking centre stage in this fantastic exhibition in Helsinki,” said Kovalainen. “People very often say that they cannot get close enough to Formula 1 to see the cars or understand how they work. This is a great chance for the public to learn something more about the history and technology of Formula 1 – and to do it with a championship-winning Renault is even better!”
