Peter Sauber, BMW Sauber F1 Team consultant, was happy with the team's achievements in the season opener in Melbourne at the Albert Park Circuit. He believes the team is heading in the right direction.

Following the first Grand Prix of the 2007 Formula One season, with five points to its tally, the BMW Sauber F1 Team holds third position in the Constructors' Championship. For Sauber, this represents an extremely satisfying to the season. "I'm truly delighted with the BMW Sauber F1.07's competitiveness," reveals Sauber. "We represented the third power in Melbourne, and this means that we have made a major step forward. I'm particularly happy for my long-term employees working in Hinwill."

"At the same time, the weekend in Melbourne also demonstrated that there still is a lot of work for us to do," added Sauber. "With the reliability of the gearbox, in particular, still not having achieved the desired level. Furthermore, from my point of view, the Australian Grand Prix has only hinted at the true balance of power. Being a street circuit, the Albert Park circuit has only limited significance when it comes to the course of the rest of the season."

At the same time, the Swiss also praises the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers: "our drivers also provided to be in good shape, in Melbourne. Nick Heidfeld succeeded, just as expected, in shifting up a gear up."
