The BMW Sauber F1 Team has already achieved its season goals prior to the final overseas races. According to BMW Motorsport Director, Mario Theissen, the team is now concentrating on the development of the new car.

Three races remain in the 2007 Formula One season but it is already clear that the BMW Sauber F1 Team will end its second year in the pinnacle of motorsports as the third strongest team. Twice Nick Heidfeld was able to achieve a podium finish, together the BMW Sauber F1 Team drivers managed to finish among the top four on ten occasions.

BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen explains: "We are basically ahead of our development. Since the season has been going so well, we have already been able to fully concentrate on the new car for the next year." The BMW Sauber F1 Team already tested new components for the 2008 season during testing programmes in Spa-Francorchamps in the middle of September.

"The last step to the absolute top is definitely the most difficult one," the BMW Motorsport Director warns not to expect too much of the next season. After all, "Ferrari and McLaren-Mercedes at the top are hard nuts to crack."
