F1 against F-16
Tomorrow, Christijan Albers will be racing against a F-16 fighter jet at Volkel during the Full Throttle 07 event. Albers will not be the first F1 driver to race against a jet as two Ferrari drivers have done it before him.
Gilles Villeneuve was the first F1 driver to race against a jet. On 21 November 1981, Villeneuve raced against a F-104 Starfighter.
In 2003, a new Ferrari driver was ready for the challenge. Michael Schumacher raced against a Eurofighter 2000 Typhoon and proved to have the faster machine.
During the 'Full Throttle 07' event it won't be a Ferrari to race against the F-16 fighter jet, but a Spyker F8-VII powered by a Ferrari-engine.
